Research: Dr. Williams' research focuses on gender and sexuality in the workplace. She studies gender discrimination, occupational segregation, sexual harassment, and homophobia in a variety of employment settings. She is the author of several books, most recently Inside Toyland: Working, Shopping, and Social Inequality (California 2006). She is currently studying gender, race, and class inequality in low wage retail work. Dr Williams edited the journal, Gender and Society, from 2003-06. Dr. Williams teaches courses in gender and sexuality, field and observational research methods, and work and labor movements.
