Mission Statement
The goal of the Department of Sociology at the University of Texas at Austin is to achieve academic excellence in research, teaching, and public service at the highest level in our discipline. We are currently ranked among the 15 sociology programs in the country and aim to achieve even greater recognition through our research productivity, teaching accomplishments, student placements, awards, and service. We also strive to do so in a context that is based on the highest ethical standards of our discipline and in a context that actively promotes and supports diversity among our faculty and student populations.
