Carly entered the doctorate program in Fall 2013, and is currently preparing her master's thesis on the connection between one's cultural and religious Jewish identity and the social infrastructures that exist in their community. Her areas of interest include religion, identity, and quantitative methods. Prior to joining the UT she graduated with a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Michigan, where she wrote her honor's thesis on identity-management strategies used in conflicts, whereby needing to code data in both Hebrew and English. She also spent a year tutoring and living in Israel and spent a semester studying abroad in Melbourne, Australia.
