Carly entered the doctorate program in Fall 2013, and is currently preparing her master's thesis on the cultivation and maintenance of one's Jewish identity while being immersed in, and also separated from, a Jewish community. Carly will be presenting this research at the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion in Fall 2014. Her areas of interest include religion, identity, and quantitative methods. Prior to joining the UT she graduated with a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Michigan, where she wrote her honor's thesis on identity-management strategies used in conflicts, whereby needing to code data in both Hebrew and English. She also spent a year tutoring and living in Israel and spent a semester studying abroad in Melbourne, Australia.
