Research Experience for Undergraduates program now accepting applications

The Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program in Minority Group Demography offers undergraduates interested in social science research an opportunity to acquire advanced research skills and hands-on experience at The University of Texas at Austin.

Summer 2008 REU Program Highlights:
• 10 weeks on the UT Austin campus engaged in academic coursework and applied research apprenticeships, focusing on the social scientific study of minority group experience in the U.S.

• Earn 3 hours college credit for an upper-division sociology course on the methods and materials of demographic research, the scientific study of human populations

• Gain valuable professional experience by writing a scholarly paper and presenting it at a professional conference in the fall semester following the REU program

The program pays for tuition, room and board, computer expenses, books; REU students also receive a stipend.
