Dr Jacqueline Angel received the 2010 Senior Service Scholar Award from the Gerontological Society of America (GSA). The GSA is the largest professional organization for scholars in aging research (www.geron.org). The recognition is based on Dr Angel's long-standing research agenda addressing social inequalities in the health of older adults with a special focus on Latinas, and specifically on her article "A Window of Vulnerability: Health Insurance Coverage among Minority Women on the Cusp of Retirement," co-authored with Jennifer Karas Montez and Dr Ronald Angel.
The award was presented at the Gerontological Society of America Annual Meeting on Sunday, November 21, 2010.
