Dr. Charrad gave the keynote luncheon address at a conference on "The Shifting Dynamics of Power in North Africa and the Middle East" held on February 8, 2013, in Washington DC. Entitled "Gender Politics in North Africa: Trends and Challenges," her address considered the history of gender politics in the region and current debates following the Arab Spring.
