Why Submit?

Sociological Insight was organized with the sole purpose of benefitting undergraduates interested in research. There are many reasons for you to submit your best article or a book review to Insight, and here are a few:
  • Publishing an article in a fully refereed journal attests to your academic abilities, namely your ability to identify and formulate a pertinent academic research question, to think critically about it, to write in a professional manner, and to incorporate feedback from colleagues. Needless to say, this publication will strengthen your CV/resume, especially your graduate school application.

  • You will receive the objective feedback of anonymous undergraduate editors, reviewers and a professional consulting editor.

  • Engaging in academic research will improve your professional communication skills, enhance your critical reasoning, create opportunities to develop a relationship with a faculty or graduate student mentor, and open doors for research internships.

  • The top three papers published in Sociological Insight will receive monetary awards.

  • You have nothing to lose. The submission process is very simple.
