SPN 352 • Topics in Spanish and Spanish American Literature

The primary aim of this course is to analyze in a broad sense the connections between Spanish American cinema and literature, through extensive readings and in-class movie exhibitions.
All students are expected to prepare monthly assignments for class (50%) and submit a final report (50%).
Particular emphasis will be given to "Martin Fierro" (poem and film), "La sombra del caudillo" (novel and film), "Don Segundo Sombra" (novel and film), "Boquitas pintadas" (novel and film), "Diario de la guerra del cerdo" (novel and film), "El apando" (novel and film), "Un lugar sin limites" (novel and film), "De eso no se habla" (short story and film).
