Course Description

This course will be devoted to study the main trends of Latin American poetry in the twentieth century. The topics we are going to address are: a) The aesthetics of modernismo, the rhetorics of sensuality and the politics of americanismo; b) Postmodernismo and the search for the self; c) Experiments and revolution in the avant-garde poetry; d) The surrealist adventure; e) Political commitment or universalism: poetry in the cold war; f) Latin american poetry and postmodernity.

Grading Policy

4 partial exams: 40% one 4-pages paper: 20% final exam: 25% participation: 15%
