Unique Days Time Location Instructor

Course Description

The first aim of the course is to acquaint the student thoroughly with Don Quijote. The method will be that of a textual interpretation of the work. Emphasis will be on the novel's literary quality, but other aspects (political, social, philosophical, etc.) will also be brought into focus. Cervantes' ideas on literature and particularly on the novel will be examined. The relationship of Don Quijote will be considered in the light of the critical opinions (including my own recent studies), expressed since its publication to the present. Students are to be prepared with assignments always, and are expected to participate actively in class.
