Isabel Franc first received national recognition in Spain for her novel Entre todas las mujeres (Tusquets 1992), finalist for the Sonrisa Vertical Prize. She is perhaps best known today for her humorous Lola Van Guardia novels, including the trilogy, Con Pedigree (Egales 1997) Plumas de Doble Filo (Egales 1999) and La mansión de las Tríbadas (Egales 2002), which present the lesbian world of Barcelona from with a decidedly satirical bent. She has also published a detective novel, No me llames cariño (Egales 2004), winner of the Shangay prize for the best book of 2004., as well as the collection Cuentos y fábulas de Lola Van Guardia (Egales 2008) and the novel Las razones de Jo (Lumen, 2005).
