Pedro Canales

Pedro Canales Tapia Professor in History at the University of Santiago, Chile. He received his PhD in History from the University ARCIS, Santiago. Professor Canales Tapia, Investigador del Fondo de Ciencia y Tecnología [Researcher from the Science and Technology Fund] (CONICYT, Chile), is one of the most distinguished Mapuche historians of his country. He has conducted the majority of his research in Mapuche communities in Southern Chile (Comuna de Nueva Imperial, sector Rulomapu). 


Professor Canales Tapia is author of numerous articles that address the history of the Mapuche Nation in Chile and author of the book Tierra e Historia. Estudios y controversias acerca de la historia del pueblo Mapuche en Chile, 1950-2010, published by the Editorial Universidad de La Serena (2010).
