After the success of "Dios los cría" (1979) and "Nicolás y los demás" (1986), the Puerto Rican writer-director Jacobo Morales produced his third film called "Lo que le pasó a Santiago" (What happened to Santiago) in 1989. The film brings Puerto Rican TV personalities into the celluloid, such celebrities as Tommy Muñiz, Gladys Rodríguez, René Monclova and Jacobo Morales himself. Don Tommy plays the role of an old business man, called Santiago, who's life turns into loneliness after his retirement, but a chance encounter with Angelina (Gladys Rodríguez) changes everything. The picture was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 1990.
