Fernando Rivera studied literature and linguistics at the Universidad de San Agustín and Universidad de San Marcos in Peru, and received his Ph.D. from Princeton University. He has published several articles on Peruvian Literature, among them "El zorro en el espejo: poética narrativa y discurso autobiográfico" on the posthumous novel of Peruvian writer José María Arguedas, and "La alcoba de Garcilaso, erotismo y violencia en el 'encuentro' cultural" on the novel, /La hora azul/, by Alonso Cueto. He is completing a book entitled /Ética y poética de la escritura en/ /José María Arguedas, /and working on a brief volume about discourses and narratives of the Peruvian civil war. An accomplished novelist, he has also published works of fiction. Fernando Rivera currently teaches in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Tulane University.
