Arturo Arias will direct a new summer program in Antigua, Guatemala

Arturo Arias will direct a faculty-led study abroad program in Antigua, Guatemala during Summer Session I, 2012. A renowned novelist and expert in Central American literatures and cultures, Prof. Arias will teach course on contemporary Maya literature at the Casa Herrera, a research, conference and teaching facility built in 1680 and now operated by the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Austin in collaboration with the Fundación Pantaleón. As an extension of the university’s Mesoamerica Center, the Casa Herrera focuses on disciplines that contribute to the study of Mesoamerican opportunities for education and research.
