Professors Cárcamo-Huechante and McDonough Named to Prestigious Editorial Board
Posted: March 4, 2013
Professors Luis Cárcamo-Huechante and Kelly McDonough, both members of the faculty in Spanish and Portuguese and Native American and Indigenous Studies at UT Austin, have been appointed to the inaugural Editorial Board of the journal Native American & Indigenous Studies (NAIS), which has been recently founded as the peer-reviewed academic journal of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association. NAIS will be published, twice a year, by the University of Minnesota Press. According to the Council of NAISA, the journal’s mandate is to focus on “publishing the best interdisciplinary scholarship in international Native American and Indigenous Studies” (www.naisa.org).
Professors Cárcamo-Huechante and McDonough have been invited to join this prestigious Editorial Board as the result of a review process conducted by the inaugural co-editors of the journal NAIS, scholars Jean O’Brien (White Earth Ojibwe, University of Minnesota) and Robert Warrior (Osage, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign). The current President of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association, K. Tsianina Lomawaima (Creek, University of Arizona) highlights the fact that, in this process, “the co-editors have worked through the process of reviewing the many fine applicants to the Board.”
