Professor Héctor Domínguez-Ruvalcaba Wins Distinguished Award
Posted: November 22, 2013
Professor Héctor Domínguez-Ruvalcaba has won the President’s Associates Teaching Excellence Award, which recognizes excellence in undergraduate education in the core curriculum (including the signature courses). Winners of the award must also have a demonstrated record of engagement with curriculum reform and educational innovation.
An outstanding classroom teacher and mentor at the undergraduate and graduate levels, Professor Domínguez-Ruvalcaba empowers his students by helping them to develop their critical abilities to their fullest potential and to see themselves as forces for positive change, as several former students attested in their letters of support. Professor Domínguez-Ruvalcaba also served as the Associate Chair for Undergraduate Study for the Department of Spanish and Portuguese from 2010 to 2012, when the faculty began to rethink the curriculum and individual courses in our undergraduate programs, so that they might better reflect the nature of our disciplines today.
