Prof. Sandro Sessarego, specialist in Contact Linguistics to join the faculty in Fall 2014. He obtained his PhD from The Ohio State University in 2010. He works primarily in the fields of contact linguistics, sociolinguistics and syntax. His current research focuses on Afro-Hispanic contact varieties and on the syntax and semantics of the Determiner Phrase (DP). He is the author of Introducción al idioma afroboliviano: Una conversación con el awicho Manuel Barra (Plural Editores, 2011), Chota Valley Spanish(Iberoamericana/Vervuert, 2013), The Afro-Bolivian Spanish Determiner Phrase (The Ohio State University Press, forthcoming). He is the co-editor, with Melvin González-Rivera, of Current Formal Aspects of Spanish Syntax and Semantics(Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2012) and New Perspectives on Hispanic Contact Linguistics in the Americas(Iberoamericana/Vervuert, forthcoming).
