ABOUT PROFESSOR DIRLIK: Arif Dirlik is Knight Professor of Social Science(Retired), University of Oregon. He was most recently the Liang Qichao Memorial Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University, Beijing. His most recent Publications are Global Modernity: Modernity in the Age of Global Capitalism, and the edited volumes, Pedagogies of the Global:Knowledge in the Human Interest (2006) and "Snapshots of Intellectual Life in Contemporary PR China" (2007).
