The Department of English congratulates Axel Bohmann, who has been awarded the Richard M. Hogg Prize, which the International Society for the Linguistics of English (ISLE) awards once a year to an outstanding research paper by a junior scholar. Axel's winning piece is entitled "Nobody canna cross it: An interactional perspective on discourse in motion." The paper presents findings from his MA thesis, which he wrote under English Department professors Lars Hinrichs and Ian Hancock (submitted Spring 2012).
