Review of Professor Wayne Rebhorn's translation of the Decameron in The New Yorker

The English Department wishes a hearty congratulations to Professor Wayne Rebhorn, who has just this week received a lovely and lengthy review by Joan Acocella in the New Yorker. Professor Rebhorn’s new and complete translation of Boccaccio’s Decameron is hailed in the review as “a thoughtful piece of work, with populist intentions.” His extensive, informative footnotes are described as “a secret message, about Rebhorn’s love of the Decameron and the years and years of work he spent on it.” In closing Acocella recommends that if you “want the true, mixed, fourteenth-century book that Boccaccio wrote, choose Rebhorn.”
