Professor Elizabeth Richmond-Garza wins the President's Associates Teaching Excellence Award

Thu, December 5, 2013

The English Department would like to congratulate Professor Elizabeth Richmond-Garza on being awarded the President's Associates Teaching Excellence Award.

This award is given out each year to faculty who demonstrate excellence in “undergraduate education in the core curriculum (including the signature courses). Well-qualified candidates...also have a demonstrated record of engagement with curriculum reform and educational innovation.” Every year the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Natural Sciences, and the School of Undergraduate Studies each nominate a certain number of candidates, and the dean of each nominating college ranks these individuals. The selection committee consists of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, three faculty members, and one undergraduate student. Between five and eight awards are given each year, and recipients receive an honorarium.

Professor Richmond-Garza’s recognized contributions to undergraduate education in the core curriculum include teaching almost two thousand UT students in E 316K and UGS 303 classes in the last three and a half years!

Congratulations, Professor Richmond-Garza!
