Directed by star director Volker Schlöndorff, this drama offers an unusual perspective on WWII. Falsely accused as a child molester, simple-minded Frenchman Abel Tiffauges (John Malkovich) is sent to the front and soon is captured. While serving as POW at Göring's hunting lodge, he is recruited by a Nazi elite boarding school. Catching boys from the area for the institution, he unwittingly becomes a servant of Nazism. As the Soviet Red Army advances upon the school, he eventually comes to understand the fatal effect of indoctrination on the youth …
