The University of Texas at Austin Among Leaders In Study Abroad, International Students

The University of Texas at Austin is among the top three universities sending students abroad and the Top 10 universities educating international students, according to the new "Open Doors" report, published by the Institute of International Education (IIE).

The university ranked third in the number of students who study abroad. It provided academic credit for 2,172 students who completed educational programs throughout the world during the 2006-07 school year. Only New York University and Michigan State University sent more students abroad. The top five destinations for students are the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, China and France.

Beginning October 14, advising for the undergraduate major in European Studies will occur at the Liberal Arts Student Division.

The Student Division is located in the Gebauer Building and is open MWF 8:30 -- 4:30 and TTh 9:30 -- 4:30. They will accept students on a walk-in basis.

Strauss Center Selected as Host of European Union Center of Excellence

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law at The University of Texas at Austin has been selected by the European Commission as the host of a new European Union Center of Excellence. The EU Center will host conferences and workshops on issues such as energy policy, technology, immigration, and cross-border crime. The new EU Center will be both multidisciplinary and campus-wide in its operations. The new Center will work closely with the Center for European Studies and the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies as well as with individual schools and colleges such as the LBJ School of Public Affairs and the Law School.
