"Roma Tomorrow" Symposium to be held on UT campus on January 29

In conjunction with the Romani Archives and Documentation Center, the Center for European Studies is hosting a symposium Roma Tomorrow on January 29, 2010. The international one-day event will feature three distinguished speakers - Dr. Erika Schlager (Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe Counsel for International Law) Dr. Ethel Brooks (Romani Studies, Rutgers University) and Dr. Thomas Acton, MBE (Chair in Romani Studies, Greenwich University, London) - as well as presentations and performances by two noted Romani musicians - . jazz pianist William Duna and flamenco guitarist Lolo del Carders. The day will conclude with a panel discussion and Q&A.

The symposium is being held in the Avaya Auditorium (2.302) in the ACE Building on the UT Campus and is free and open to the public.

In the evening, Romani saxophonist Yuri Yunakov will perform with his ensemble in the Hogg Memorial Auditorium presented by the Texas Performing Arts. For more information about the evening performance and to purchase tickets, please contact Texas Performing Arts.
