Three New PhD Alumni in French

It's official; we have three new PhD alumni in French.

We are pleased to announce that Marnie Bethel has earned her PhD in French Studies, and both Nicholas Bacuez and Mehrak Shariat have earned the PhD in French Linguistics.

Dr. Bethel's dissertation is titled Rachel, the Circulation of the Image, and the Death of Tragedy, and was supervised by Professor Alexandra Wettlaufer.

Dr. Bacuez's dissertation is titled Automated Pattern Recognition for Intonation (Print). An Essay on Intonational Phonology and Categorization, and was supervised by Professor Jean-Pierre Montreuil.

Dr. Shariat's dissertation is titled Linguistic Politeness in Medieval French, and was supervised by Professor Carl Blyth (co-supervisor, Professor Brigitte Bauer).
