Dr. Edgardo Latrubesse is a respected geomorphologist and Professor at the University of Texas at Austin. His expertise was most recently utilized in the international journal Sedimentary Geology, serving as a guest editor for a special issue on Large rivers and megafans.

The issue originated from two special sessions of the 2012 Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union chaired by Latrubesse in collaboration with Justin Wilkinson (Jacobs Technology, NASA ) and Jorge Abad  (The university of Pittsburgh). The special issue, curated by researchers from USA, Brazil, India, UK and Italy,  is a collection of results  on large rivers and megafans case studies from across five continents.
