Join Dr. Jennifer Miller and Dr. Eugenio Arima for the 2nd Annual Summer GIS Institute. Sessions are open to faculty, graduate students, staff, and the general public. Aimed at people who currently use or wish to incorporate more environmental, health, and or socio-economic GIS into their work.

Advanced GIS A (Vector) and B (Raster)

Friday, May 23, 2014 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 
Open to faculty, graduate students, staff, and the general public. Aimed at people who currently use or wish to incorporate more environmental, health, and or socio-economic GIS into their work. Two tracks will focus on raster and vector GIS approaches separately. Students will gain ArcGIS software as well as enhanced spatial problem-solving experience.

GIS for the Classroom

Friday, July 18, 2014 9 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
& Saturday July 19, 2014. 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. 

Primarily for pre-service and practicing 6-12 Social Studies teachers, but with open registration to anyone wanting to use GIS as a teaching tool.


The Institute will be held at the Julius Glickman Conference Center on the University of Texas at Austin campus.
