National Honors and News from the AAG Annual Meeting 2014

Faculty and students from the Department of Geography and the Environment had an eventful week at the 2014 AAG Annual Meeting. There were a plethora of presentations, a joint reception with UT/LSU, and a variety of prestigious appointment and awards. Highlights include-

National Honors

-Ph.D. student Gregory Schwartz was invited to Phi Kappa Phi National Academic Honor Society.

Association of American Geographers (AAG)

-Ph.D. Candidate Niti Mishra was elected as a Director of the Remote Sensing Specialty Group and will be serving a two year term (2015-2016).

-Ph.D. student Sara Diamond  was elected as the Graduate Student Representative to the AAG Council.

-Ph.D. Candidate Paul Holloway tied for the 1st place award in the student paper contest for Spatial Analysis and Modeling (SAM).

-Ph.D. Candidate Katia Avilés-Vázquez was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the AAG Geography of Food and Agriculture Specialty Group.
