German Film Series - Spring 2009: POST-REUNIFICATION REPRESENTATIONS OF NAZISM IN GERMAN CINEMA

Using historical records, this film dramatizes the last days of Sophie Scholl. Munich 1943: Sophie and her brother Hans are members of the resistance group "Weiße Rose" (White Rose). While the siblings secretly distribute anti-Nazi flyers at Munich University, they get caught and interrogated by the Gestapo. During cross- examination, Sophie has to make up her mind whether she should stick to her ideals, a decision that would ultimately cost her life…
