Good German

From its promo poster to the film’s 1.66:1 aspect ratio, The Good German was designed to imitate the appearance of 1940s film noir. Set in Berlin at the end of World War II, this technical homage begins as a murder mystery, but weaves in elements involving the American postwar employment of Nazi rocket scientists. Based on the novel by Joseph Kanon and starring some of contemporary Hollywood’s most famous actors, this final film in  our  semester  series  references  numerous  aspects  of  the Trümmerfilm genre. 105 minutes
