When she is not an IHS fellow, Mary K. Gayne is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where she teaches French history, world history, and historical methods.  Mary received her Ph.D from Cornell University in 2007. Her scholarship has been publishedin journals such as the Journal of Women's Studies and Eighteenth-Century Studies, as well as in an edited volume of French essays produced by the Centre de Recherce du Château de Versailles.
