Symposium on Gender, History and Sexuality presents a talk with doctoral student Saheed Aderinto on "Sexuality, Nationalism, and Race in West Africa"

Presenter's Bio:
Saheed Aderinto is currently completing a doctoral dissertation entitled, "Sexualized Nationalism: Lagos and the Politics of Illicit Sexuality in Colonial Nigeria, 1918-1958." Aderinto has published journal articles, book chapters, book reviews and encyclopedia entries on:

  • gender and sexuality
  • historiography and nationalism
  • peace and conflict
  • African diaspora.

His co-authored book, History and the Nation-State: Nigeria and its Nationalist Historians, is forthcoming from University of Rochester Press.
