In honor of Veterans' Day, formerly known as Armistice Day, University History Society (UHS) is screening a classic film adaptation of Ernest Hemmingway's A Farewell To Arms (1929).

Set in Europe during World War I, A Farewell to Arms focuses on the tragic romance between an American ambulance driver serving in the Italian military and an English Red Cross nurse.

This 1932 interpretation of Hemmingway's semi-autobiographical World War I experience stars Gary Cooper, Helen Hays and Adolphe Menjou. Part of the Golden Age of Hollywood, "A Farewell to Arms" was nominated for four Academy Awards and won Best Cinematography and Best Sound.
