IHS Workshop: "The Object of Diaspora: African Art and Postwar Cultural Politics in the U.S.A."

The Institute for Historical Studies (IHS) presents a talk by Dr. Sarah Van Beurden, assistant professor at Ohio State University and IHS Fellow, entitled "The Object of Diaspora: African Art and Postwar Cultural Politics in the U.S.A.".

Van Beurden received her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Her interests center around transatlantic history and her dissertation examined western representations of Central Africa in the period of decolonization between 1955 and 1975, using a multi-lingual and multi-archival approach that examines the complex relations between the United States, Belgium, and the Congo.
