The Distinguished Speaker Series in African American History is pleased to announce an upcoming lecture:

Leslie Harris, associate professor, Emory University, will present a talk entitled, "Hurricane Season: Life in 20th-century New Orleans" on memoir, family history, and urban history.

Harris is the author of In the Shadow of Slavery: African Americans in New York City, 1626-1863 (University of Chicago, 2003) and has another book in process titled Enchained Masculinity: African-American Men of the Slave South.
