LLILAS Faculty Speaker Series presents a lecture by Prof. J. Cañizares-Esguerra

Prof. Cañizares-Esguerra will present his book, "Nature, Empire, and Nation" which is a collection of essays that explores two traditions of interpreting and manipulating nature in the early-modern and nineteenth-century Iberian world: one instrumental and imperial, the other patriotic and national.

Jorge Cañizares-Esguerra received his PhD in History at the University Wisconsin-Madison in 1995. He is author of the award winning "How to Write the History of the New World" (Stanford University Press, 2001).
