Professor David Oshinsky To Speak

Fri, April 1, 2005

The book's release coincides with the 50th anniversary of the news that the human trials of the polio vaccine developed by scientist Jonas Salk had indeed proved effective in protecting people against the paralyzing disease. Oshinsky was interviewed on his research for the book on PBS's The News Hour with Jim Lehrer on April 12. He is on leave from teaching for the spring semester and is presently on a book tour that ends at Austin's Arboretum Barnes and Noble next week. Oshinsky teaches 20th-century U.S. political and cultural history at the University of Texas at Austin.
