Filmed in a tattoo parlor in Killeen, "Tattooed Under Fire" records the experiences of soldiers both deploying to and returning from Iraq, as they describe why they chose the tattoos that are inked onto their bodies. Dr. Stephen Sonnenberg, Baylor College of Medicine, says "I recently showed Nancy Schiesari's 'Tattooed Under Fire' as part of a day long seminar I gave on violence and war. The audience of mental health professionals was spellbound, and speechless for some minutes after the film was shown. It is a powerful representation of what soldiers experience in war, and how they attempt to make meaning out of their traumatic experiences."

Filmmaker, Nancy Schiesari and psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, Dr. Stephen Sonnenberg will be on hand to discuss the film.
