Biography

I received my B.A. from Trinity University with a double major in psychology and religious studies and a minor in music. After graduation, I joined Dr. Alan Peterson's research team at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where I worked on projects investigating the etiology and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder in military personnel. I am currently working under the guidance of Dr. Michael Telch in the clinical psychology doctoral program at UT Austin. My research now focuses on investigating mechanisms for the development and treatment of anxiety disorders, and using mechanistic findings to produce more effective anxiety treatments. One of our ongoing projects has been developed in close collaboration with Dr. Marie Monfils in behavioral neuroscience, and aims to apply findings from nonhuman animal research in boosting fear extinction to improve the efficacy of exposure therapy for anxiety disorders.
