The UT Global Initiative trains new and experienced academic advisors for the rigors of today’s diverse institutions of higher education. Our programs highlight methods of academic advising, college student development theory, assessment, and strategic advising models. This approach emphasizes practical methods for a wide range of academic advising groups including first year advising, faculty advising, program development, and strategic advising.

UTGI’s academic advising services take the expertise of UTeach-Liberal Arts Advising Services. UTeach Advising has received national recognition and is dedicated to providing high-level advising workshops to faculty, beginning or professional advisors, and departments.
Our advisor, with more than 15 years of experience, connects theory to practice by integrating the following:
- Academic advising pedagogy
- Assessment tools
- Student-centered learning
- Theories that translate to practical application
Our programs can be delivered as stand-along workshops or symposium talks, or can be reorganized to fit client needs. We work with each client individually to provide customized content and style that fit the needs of the institution. UTGI’s academic advising trainings may take place at a host institution, online, or in Austin, Texas.
