Roundtable Discussion Featuring 2011 Community Sabbaticals Research

The Humanities Institute of The University of Texas at Austin will host a reception and roundtable discussion featuring the work of the 2011 Community Sabbatical grantees Linda Brucker (A Legacy of Giving), Deliana Garcia (Migrant Clinicians Network) and Tim Staley (Austin Public Library Friends Foundation).

Complimentary parking will be provided, and all are invited to attend.  A brief description of the research done by our Community Sabbatical grantees is included below. 

Linda Brucker is the founder and Executive Director of A Legacy of Giving, whose mission is to empower children through philanthropy education to become more engaged in improving their communities and world.  She will discuss her research concerning the sustainability and expansion of the program, A Legacy of Giving.

Deliana Garcia is a member of the senior management team for The Migrant Clinicians Network (MCN), a national clinical network that works toward health care justice for the mobile poor.  She will discuss economic arguments for the provision of transborder patient navigation services.

Tim Staley is the Executive Director of the Austin Public Library Friends Foundation.  Tim will discuss the role of the central public library in 21st century America.  He will highlight how Austin’s new central library can reach its potential as a dynamic institution capable of enhancing the lives of each of its community’s members.
