The Paul and Mary Ho Distinguished Lecture in China Studies
The Humanities Institute received a generous gift to endow an annual public lecture in China Studies, beginning in 2006. The Institute enhances its regular Distinguished Visiting Lecturers Series by the addition of one lecture that explores China's historical, cultural, or social connection or contribution to the series' yearly theme. The endowment for the lecture is the gift of University of Texas faculty members Dr. Paul Ho, who holds a Cockrell Family Regents Chair in Engineering, and Mrs. Mary Ho, a Chinese language specialist and former lecturer in the Department of Asian Studies.

The Paul and Mary Ho Distinguished Lecture in China Studies aims to extend and deepen understanding of and engagement with China in the University community and among the general public. The Institute has established a faculty and citizen advisory committee to identify prominent and exciting candidates to deliver the annual China Studies lecture.
Dr. Eugenia Lean, Associate Professor of Chinese History in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures and Director of the Weatherhead East Asian Institute at Columbia University, will be this year's Paul and Mary Ho Distinguished lecturer in China Studies. More information here.
