Marissa is a graduate student in the Categorization and Decision Making Lab at the University of Texas at Austin.
Arousal affects a wide array of cognitive processes under real-world conditions, yet most cognitive research is conducted with low-arousal paradigms leaving a critical gap in our understanding of learning. Further, current research does little to directly compare conscious reflective learning and implicit reflexive learning within the same study blurring our understanding of these systems.
In her research, Marissa is interested in uncovering how motivation and arousal affect cognition within two processing systems and how we can utilize individual differences in motivation to improve learning outcomes.
