Course Description
Our vision of Latin America is shaped by newsmagazine reportage and Television coverage of crises. This class will expose students with an interest in covering foreign stories or diverse communities to the importance cultural sensitivity and understanding the "insider's view." We will immerse ourselves in the world of Latin America seeing it through the eyes of documentary photographers, writers and filmmakers. We will have weekly slide lectures and film screenings. Students will work on 4 photo stories about the local Latino community. Non-photographers will write research papers on the work of a Latin American photographer or filmmaker.
