Course Description
This course seeks to situate the history of Brazil within the larger context of the Atlantic World. It explores the political negotiations, economic transactions, and cultural exchanges among peoples of African, Amerindian, and European descent that have shaped Brazilian history. Moreover, it probes Brazil's shifting role in the international division of labor and cultural marketplace.
