Course Description

The course is designed as a general review of the various topics of, approaches to, and methodologies for the study of nineteenth-century Spanish America. The course is divided into three main sections: facts and chronologies in the history of nineteenth-century Spanish America, major historical topics, and new approaches and/or academic vogues. Although the course examines the most current literature, it will also seek to point out new areas of future research.
