Symposium: "Discourses of Music, Sound, and Film"

This symposium promises captivating discussions and presentations by leading scholars (1) relating to questions of disciplinary practices and relationships in light of a century of film; and (2) tackling problems in contemporary repertoires and discourses with respect to musical and aural culture. In the course of this, with sound film and some current musical practices as the "binary center," we hope to bring a persistent focus to the principal intellectual, historical, and disciplinary issues in music studies, film studies, and sound studies.  Open to the public.
