Workshop: "Ritual Speech and Subjectivity"

This workshop will take a comparative approach to look at a wide range of phenomena centered on ritual speech. Presentations will describe ritual speech events from geographyically diverse locations ranging from Siberia to Africa to Central and South America. Our hope is to open a theoretically and empirically informed discussion of the social, cultural, and linguistic bases of the ritualized world.
