Symposium: "Growing Tejano Memories at the Texas Capitol"
Fri, May 6, 2011 • 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM • Mexican American Cultural Center, 600 River Street
One of the major challenges facing the Mexican community in the United States is to recover their history and to make it accessible to the public. This symposium celebrates an extraordinary campaign that has succeeded in advancing this recovery enterprise. It will culminate with the placing of a statue commemorating Tejano colonial history on the Capitol grounds. The statue will serve as a permanent reminder of this history and a testament to the impressive work of the campaign participants, two of whom will speak at this event.
